Hello! I’m Jane.
This blog is about the little daily things that keep me active and inspired in my seventies. I definitely take each day as it comes and try to live in the moment.
Welcome, would you like a cup of tea and a cookie?
A Balancing Act
Like the majority of the population I definitely like to eat. Some of you have wondered how I can possibly consume breads, sweet treats and bountiful lunches and still maintain a pretty consistent weight.
March Winds
T.S. Eliot claimed that April was the cruellest month but in my book the month of March, in Toronto at least, is by far the most dastardly.
Favourite Things Part II Toronto
There’s lots to love about my home town, Toronto. Besides being a relatively safe, clean metropolis, with lots of parks and trees, the city offers many special treats for residents and visitors. Here are some of my favourites:
How to have a happy life
As a woman of a certain age, I’m often asked on Tik Tok and Instagram what advice I would give to young people.
Autumn Splendour
Here are some of the things I’m loving about the month of October in Ontario, Canada:
To sleep, perchance to dream
“Sleep that knits up the ravell'd sleave of care” - Shakespeare - Macbeth
Hooked on… Korean TV
In the never ending search for entertaining evening tv viewing, I have discovered South Korean television drama series.
Career Capers - Final Chapter
The last segment of my career before I got married and then pregnant shortly thereafter can only be described as entertaining, partly because I was working for a magazine in the movie business, but also because I had a crazy boss.
Career Capers (Part III)
Where were we? Oh yes, a new boyfriend, who was part owner of a large sailboat that was being restored at a beautiful Caribbean island, invited me to join him and his friends for an extended sojourn on the boat.
Career Capers Part II
Decisions, decisions - after a few years at the ad agency, my then boyfriend, G, announced he was moving to Western Canada for work - would I like to join him?
Career Capers Part I
Once upon a time there was a young university graduate who moved to the big city to get a job.
The Reluctant Runner
I don’t love running. Even though I’ve been doing it for over 35 years, ever since my friend Sue, whom I met skiing in the singles line at Sunshine Mountain in western Canada, dragged me reluctantly to a local track to join her for a few laps.
Age is Just a Number
Remember the movie The Age of Adaline? Blake Lively plays Adaline Bowman, a young woman who stops aging following an accident at the age of 29. As Adaline negotiates a life on the run because she has turned into a freak and people want to perform experiments on her, the viewer is left thinking “be careful what you wish for!”
